Koreans don’t just buy convenience store food, they remix it. Mixing products into new dishes is so popular there’s a word for it: modisumer (modify + consumer), and the best combos are called kkul-johap (꿀조합), literally “honey combinations.” Some became so famous that brands turned them into official products.

Tank’s Pick: Buldak + Rabokki, With Banana Milk

This is my personal favorite, and it’s not on any viral list. Cook a cup of Buldak and a cup of rabokki (라볶이, ramyeon in a sweet tteokbokki-style sauce), then mix them together in one cup. The rabokki sauce adds sweetness and body, so you get Buldak’s fire without it being a one-note burn. Then grab a Binggrae banana milk from the fridge. Honestly, it’s the best combo I know.
- Mix ratio: start half-and-half. Add more rabokki if the heat is too much.
- Why banana milk: milk fat helps calm the capsaicin burn, and the sweetness plays perfectly against the spice.
- Where: any GS25, CU, 7-Eleven or emart24. Use the hot-water dispenser and eat at the tables inside or outside.
Here are the combos Koreans actually make, with the exact products to grab, step-by-step instructions using the free microwave and hot water in the store, and what it’ll cost.
Before you start: every Korean convenience store has free hot water and a microwave. Cup noodles have a fill line inside; microwave-safe containers are marked with a microwave icon. Never microwave foil lids or metal.
1. Mark Jeongsik (마크정식): The K-pop Original
The most famous convenience store combo in Korea. A GOT7 fan created it in 2016 to name a dish after the singer Mark, and he later made it himself on TV.
- Giant tteokbokki cup (자이언트 떡볶이)
- Spaghetti-style cup noodles (e.g. 콕콕콕 스파게티)
- A frank sausage (e.g. 의성마늘 후랑크)
- Mozzarella cheese stick or pizza cheese
- Add hot water to the tteokbokki and spaghetti cups up to the lines.
- Microwave the tteokbokki for about 3 minutes.
- Drain the spaghetti and mix it into the tteokbokki with both sauces.
- Slice the sausage on top, add cheese, and microwave 30 seconds until melted.
Cost: about ₩5,700 (2016 prices; expect a little more now).
2. Buldak Risotto (불닭 리조또)
Still trending on Korean social media in 2026. The rice soaks up the Buldak sauce like a spicy cheesy risotto.
- Buldak Bokkeummyeon large cup (불닭볶음면 큰컵)
- Tuna mayo triangle kimbap (참치마요 삼각김밥)
- 1 slice of cheddar cheese, plus mozzarella if available
- Crush the dry noodles inside the cup.
- Unwrap the triangle kimbap and put it on top.
- Add the Buldak sauce, about ½ cup of hot water, and the cheese.
- Microwave about 4 minutes, then stir everything together.
Cost: about ₩6,000. Too spicy? Check our Buldak spice level guide and swap in Carbonara Buldak.
3. Cheese Jja-Giant (치즈 짜자언트)
Black bean noodles meet tteokbokki, with cheese on top. Sweet, savory, a little spicy.
- Giant tteokbokki cup
- Chapagetti cup (짜파게티)
- Cheese sausage
- 2 slices of cheddar
- Microwave the tteokbokki for 3½ minutes.
- Make the Chapagetti with slightly less water than usual so it won’t be soupy.
- Mix the two, top with cheese and sliced sausage, and microwave 30 seconds.
4. CU Zero Jeongsik (CU 제로정식)
A CU-only combo: tteokbokki, kimchi fried rice, and corn cheese all in one bowl.
- Giant tteokbokki cup
- Spam kimchi fried rice (microwave type)
- Corn cheese gratin (콘치즈그라탕)
- Cook the tteokbokki in the microwave.
- Stir in the kimchi fried rice.
- Top with the corn cheese and microwave about 1½ minutes.
5. Omori Jeongsik (오모리정식)
The GS25 version: Omori kimchi ramyeon cup plus a triangle kimbap. Eat a bite of rice, slurp the kimchi broth, then drop the rest of the kimbap into the soup at the end. About ₩4,100.
6. Jjapaguri (짜파구리), the Parasite Noodles
Chapagetti mixed with Neoguri, made famous worldwide by the film Parasite (where it was translated as “ram-don”). It was so popular that Nongshim now sells it as a ready-made cup, the Jjapaguri Big Bowl (짜파구리 큰사발). To make it yourself, cook both, drain most of the water, and mix the black bean powder with about half the Neoguri soup powder. Add a fried egg or steak if you’re cooking at home.
7. Sarigomtang Mandu-guk (사리곰탕 만두국)
A cozy, non-spicy option. Add frozen or ready-to-eat dumplings to a Sarigomtang (milky beef bone broth) cup noodle and microwave until the dumplings are hot. About ₩5,000.
Drinks and Sweets
Ddungba Latte (뚱바라떼)
Viral with foreign tourists: pour Binggrae banana milk over an ice cup and add a hazelnut coffee pouch. Banana milk sales at GS25 rose about 20% as the trend spread.
Eol-baksa (얼박사)
Ice cup + Bacchus energy drink + cider (Korean lemon-lime soda). The combo was so popular that GS25 and Dong-A Pharmaceutical turned it into an official canned drink in June 2025 (₩2,300).
Yogurt cheesecake
Push biscuits (like Butter Coconut, 빠다코코낫) into a Greek yogurt cup and chill it for a few hours. The biscuits soften into a cheesecake-like texture. About ₩4,600.
Boksosa (복소사) for the Han River
For adults: bokbunja (Korean black raspberry wine), soju, and cider over ice. It’s a summer favorite at Han River picnics. Legal drinking age rules apply.
Combos That Became Real Products
- Jjapaguri Big Bowl (Nongshim, 2020): from the Parasite combo.
- Eol-baksa can (GS25 × Dong-A, 2025): from the ice + Bacchus + cider combo.
- Rabokguri Big Bowl (Nongshim, January 2026): a rabokki-style cup that Nongshim says was inspired by customer combos, following Jjapaguri.
Tips
- Ask for chopsticks or a spoon: say jeotgarak juseyo (젓가락 주세요). They’re usually free at the counter.
- Clean up: pour leftover soup into the sink or drain at the hot water station and separate your trash.
- Products change: if an exact item isn’t there, swap in something similar. That’s the whole point of a modisumer recipe.
